Mesquite Desert Dogs open the second half of The Basketball League (TBL) Thursday and Friday against the San Diego Wave. With 16 games remaining in the season, the Desert Dogs record stands at 10-5, one game ahead of the Wave. The Dogs need to continue their home game cooking as they went 8-1 at home but only 2-4 on the road. The Dogs need to sweep their 7 home games and at least split their away games to have any chance of making this year’s playoffs. The Dogs are led by former University of Nevada player Tyrone Criswell, who leads the league in scoring with a 22.64 per game average. Teammates Jonathon Loyd and Don Muepo are also in the top ten of league scorers with 19.93 and 19.38 APG respectively. Muepo sits in second position in rebounds per game with 10.94 RPG. Overall as a team, the Dogs trail only the Kansas City Tornados with a 111.21 points per game, average. All games begin at 7pm at the Virgin Valley High School main gym.
