The choir, orchestra and guitar students of Virgin Valley High School will present a free concert

Thursday, Dec. 13, at the VVHS Student Center. The school is located at 820 Valley View Drive.  Luminarios will guide the way from the school entrance to the student center, where poinsettias and holiday items will adorn the room.

The concert features carols and folk music from Spanish-speaking countries, along with some traditional American holiday tunes. Guests are invited to arrive by 5:30 p.m. to try small samples of Mexican food and drink prior to the concert.

At 6 p.m., the student orchestra, guitar ensemble and choir, all directed by Marie Palmer, will present their holiday concert. Concluding the evening, a piñata filled with tiny gifts and treats will be broken.  This longstanding tradition of Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries signifies the Christmas season spirit of giving.

The VVHS music students have presented public concerts featuring Italian songs and show tunes in the past year, and are excited to add a repertoire of Spanish-language songs to their musical education.

While the concert is presented free of charge, donations are gratefully accepted. The students present their public concerts as outreach to the community and to raise funds for music education opportunities that enhance their education.
