Trailing 2-0, the Beaver Dam High volleyball team staged a furious comeback to edge host Sandy Valley, 3-2, in a 1A South League match Friday evening at Sandy Valley.
The victory improved the Lady Diamondbacks to 1-2 in league play and 3-7 overall while the loss dropped the Lady Sidewinders to 0-3 in league and 1-7 overall.
After dropping the first two games, BDHS rallied back to win the next two games to force the match into a tiebreaker. The Lady D-Backs prevailed 15-13 to cap their comeback and record a crucial league victory.
“It was a good win for us, especially coming back from 2-0,” BDHS head coach Charyn McDonnell said. “That was definitely a fun battle to watch.”
Elizabeth Jensen led a balanced Beaver Dam attack with a perfect 13-of-13 on serves that included four aces to go along with seven kills. Dakota Hurst was 14-of-15 serving with 10 aces. She also added four kills and one block.
Vanessa Quevedo had an outstanding night recording nine aces on 21-of-22 serves. April Snyder was 10-of-11 on serves with five aces and four kills. Nancy Lopez finished with 12 assists.
Beaver Dam will travel to Las Vegas on Tuesday for a non-league match against Coral Academy of Science at 5 p.m.
