As predicted, the Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs used their entire roster in an easy 35-0 win over Rancho High School. The Bulldogs pretty much rested the legs of their work horse running back Wyatt Delano and aired it out against the helpless Rams. Dawgs quarterback Meb Hollingshead went long most of the first half of play hitting 9 of 15 attempts for 196 yards and three touchdowns. The Dawgs got on the scoreboard midway through the first period with Hollingshead running it in from 24 yards out. Tanner Shepherds point after made the score 7-0. The Dawgs defense gave the ball back to Hollingshead who proceeded to hit Jake Hampsten on a 68 yard bomb making the score 14-0. Seconds later the struck again after a Rams fumble. Hollingshead hit Case Crandall on the first play for 39 yards upping the Dawgs lead to 21-0 after one period of play. Hollingshead added another long T.D. pass of 42 yards to Hampsten early in the second period. Delano got to stretch his legs before the half going in from 21 yards out. Delano had 80 yards for the game on only 9 carries. Delano was held out the remainder of the game. The Dawgs led 35-0 after one half of play as coach Woods made numerous substitutions. Bulldog kicker Shepherds continued to hone his skills going 5-5 on P.A.T.s, an important factor going into critical games down the stretch. “We wanted to work on our passing game and played Wyatt only one half,” said Coach Woods. “We wanted to get the kids (subs) more playing time to reward them for busting their butts this season. Meb had a great game. He is a great leader and a tough competitor. “
