One out of every three bites of food we eat is a result of pollinators like honey bees, and crops like blueberries and cherries are 90 per cent dependent on pollination.

Honey bees are so important that farmers often have bee hives transported and then placed on their farm to provide pollination for their crops.

You can get the rest of the buzz on bees and beekeeping by visiting the Virgin Valley Heritage Museum when they present “Something to Get Buzzed About.”

On Saturday, August the 18 from 10:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. museum will feature an inside view of a beehive; the event will be in the backyard.

If you have ever wondered about Bees and their way of life drop by and John and Gina will introduce you to the fascinating world of bees and honey collection.

Honey was one of the treats of the early settlement of the Valley. The early families would encourage the bees to settle in hives. The bees helped to pollinate the fruit trees and crops also added a little sweetness to their lives with honey.

For more information about this event and the Museum, find them on Facebook at MesquiteNVMuseum, call (702)346-5705, or stop by the Museum at 35 W. Mesquite Blvd.  8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
