As the Class of 2018 says farewell, the Virgin Valley High School choir, orchestra, and guitar and ukulele ensemble will send them off with a Season Finale performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17.  The community is invited to this free concert at the VVHS auditorium, 820 Virgin Valley Drive.

VVHS music students under the direction of Marie Palmer, will feature songs by Van Morrison, Kansas, Santana, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Elvis, and more.

This rousing musical close to the school year winds up a highly successful year of growth for the music department.  Starting last fall, Palmer’s students performed at “Bella Notte” dinner concert,  The Thousand Flags ceremony, holiday concerts, the Spring Fling scholarship fundraiser, a choir concert, the guitar “Breakfast Jam” at Veteran’s Park, and now a joint concert that spotlights the graduating seniors.

These outstanding musicians have participated in Nevada music competitions, Mesquite Days parade, and music and scholarship fundraising activities.  Several high school musicians are members of the Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra that performed three concerts at the CasaBlanca Showroom this past season.  VVHS violist Kitana Lopez was honored by the symphony at their recent concert when she was named recipient of their $1000 college scholarship.  She is just one of several graduating seniors who intend to go on to careers in music and the performing arts.
