I recently had an episode which I acted quickly that saved my life.  I’d spent the day last Thursday doing spring cleanup and preparing for the long hot summer.  I felt good about my accomplishments for the day.  I’m 62 years old, retired and enjoying my life here in this small town of Mesquite.  I went to bed as usual around 9 p.m.  I woke up about 1 a.m. having chest pains.  I tried tossing and turning to see if it would go away.  It didn’t.  So around 1:30 I got up and went out and took an aspirin, took my blood pressure, then went on the internet to self-diagnose.   It ask 7 questions if I answered yes to any of them it said to call 911.  I answered yes to two of them.  I went in and woke my wife and told her I needed to get to the hospital.  She first said it might be gas.  I knew it wasn’t, I’ve never experienced this pain before.  So, she got up and drove me to Mesa View Hospital.  It saved my life along with the fine hospital staff at 2:30 in the morning.  They instantly took me for a CAT scan.  It was determined that I had just passed two blood clots through my heart and into my lungs.  These clots were headed to my brain.  They admitted me and started me on Eliquis to help dissolve these small clots.  I’ve been in hospitals before but the Mesa View is so family- oriented and cared so much.  They saved my life.  I’ve never been treated so well as if I was part of a big family here in Mesquite.  Very professional, well educated, and best of all I’m alive.  Thank you Mesa View doctors, staff, nurses, assistants,  even your meals are prepared by a very nice and sweet man that makes you pretty much whatever you want and brings it to you with a smile.  The moral of this story for people in Mesquite, If you have symptoms like this don’t hesitate.  Get immediate attention.  It can save your life as it did mine.  Don’t worry about Mesa View Hospital.  You’re in great hands there.   Feeling wonderful.
