Bulldog Emily Teerlink left edges out teammate Rainee Brito in the 100 meter dash for second place in the Bulldog Early Bird Invitational track meet.

Virgin Valley High School hosted its annual Early Bird Invitational track meet on Saturday, March 10, with a meet record 13 schools participating. Competing teams came from large and big schools throughout Nevada plus Pine View Utah. The Lady Dogs placed second with 121.5 points behind Moapa Valley’s 146.5 while the Bulldog men placed third in their meet with a score of 86 points behind Pine View’s 139 points and runner up Desert Pine’s 123 points.

Leading the way for the Lady Dogs were sprinters Emily Teerlink, Macee Bundy and Rainee Brito, and Emma Wilson in the jumps. Teerlink edged teammate Brito in the 100 meter dash for second place and Bundy won the 200 meters with Brito finishing in fifth place. Bundy added a second place finish in the 400 meter dash. Areli Ponce joined Teerlink, Brito and Bundy to breeze through victory in the 4×100 meter relay. Lady Dog Sarah Barnum ran a leg with Teerlink, Brito and Bundy to take the 4×200 meter relay over Moapa Valley. Emma Wilson placed second in the pole vault and fifth in the high jump.

On the boys side, Taua Fiso took second in the shot putt edging out teammate Jeremy Perkins. Perkins added points in the discus. Braden Bingham placed third in the high jump and finished second in the pole vault. Jaiden Juan added points in the long jump and triple jump.

The Bulldogs next competition will be a weekday meet on March 15 at VVHS.
