The Nevada Desert Dogs will have their hands full with the Albany Patroons on Thursday Mar. 1, at the Rising Star Barn.

The Patroons lead the NAPB League with a 13-3 record compared to the Dogs 3-7 halfway through the league’s inaugural season. The Patroons are led by the Moons, Jamario and Xavier, who had 19 points apiece in the Patroons recent 106-102 defeat of the Yakima Sun Kings on Feb. 25.

The Albany team is a storied franchise in the old Continental Basketball League.

The Desert Dogs will counter with newcomers A.J. Gaines and Kendall Kendrick, who have made the Dogs more competitive since joining the Nevada squad. The Dogs have split their last three series 3-3 in games played. Jamario had a five year stay in the NBA along with another NBA player Smush Parker, who also had a big game against Yakima.

The Desert Dogs will have to get their big men into the game keeping them out of foul trouble. The Dogs go with a smaller lineup which causes matchup problems with some of the bigger teams in the league.

Win or lose, the Desert Dogs and the NAPB League in general are great entertainment alternative for Mesquite.
