The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog softball team swept the Parowan (Utah) Rams 5-4 and 13-6 Friday afternoon in the Dawg Pound. In the first game of the doubleheader the Bulldogs took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning behind the pitching of Savannah Price. Six Bulldogs singled in the rally. The Rams cut the Dawgs lead to 4-3 in the second inning on three hits and a Bulldog error. A double and an error led to the Rams fourth run in the third tying the game up at 4-4. The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning. Price singled after one out and was replaced by runner Oldham. Bulldog Taylor Barnum ended the game with a triple to center knocking in the winning run. Price got the win plus added two singles to lead the Dawgs.

In the second game of the afternoon, the Rams took a 4-1 lead over the Lady Bulldogs in the top of the third inning. The mountain fell on the Rams in the bottom of the third as the Bulldogs took advantage of six walks and two errors sandwiched around a single by Price and Jessie Barnum and doubles by Barnum and Price to score 11 runs making the score 12-4 after four innings. The rams added two runs in the top of the sixth, cutting the Dawgs’ lead to 12-6. The Bulldogs countered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 13-6 in favor of the Bulldogs. Calee Clem got a complete game win and Price led the Dawgs again with two hits. The Bulldogs pre-season record went to 9-6. The Lady Dawgs will travel to Pahrump Valley for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 28 before hosting Cheyenne on March 30. The Dawgs open 3A Sunrise League play Friday, March 31 at Del Sol High School.
