I am submitting this to see what kind of opinions and comments this might bring forth.
SOME STATES ( Maryland , Michigan & Arizona ) ARE ALLOWING MUSLIM STUDENTS TO PRAY DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
IF THEY ALLOW THAT, THEN WE SHOULD BRING BACK OUR FLAGS INTO THE CLASSROOMS AND ALLOW OTHERS TO PRAY TOO! TIME FOR THE CHRISTIANS TO SPEAK UP. DEMAND THEIR RIGHTS.
When we get 100,000,000, that’s one hundred million, willing Christians to BOND together, voice their concerns and vote, we can take back America with God’s help.
Become one of the One hundred million… Then let’s get 200 million. It can be done just by sending this email to your friends.
Do the math. It only takes a single willing heart and a fed up SOUL. God Bless America and Shine your light on Her!
In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a “National Day of Prayer.”
In 1988 President Reagan Designated the first Thursday in May of each year as The National Day of Prayer.
In June 2007 (then) Presidential Candidate Barack Obama Declared that the USA “Was no longer a Christian nation.
In May 2009 President Obama dismissed our 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of “not wanting to offend anyone”
Sept. 25, 2009, a Muslim Prayer Day was held on the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building, the site where U.S. Presidents have been inaugurated since 1981. There were over 50,000 Muslims In D.C. that day President Obama dismissed our national day of prayer and now it is okay for an event at our capitol for Islamists?? I for one was offended.
But wait, it has not stopped even now!!!
February 17-19, 2015, A Muslim prayer was recited at the start of the second day of the White House summit on “Countering Violent Extremism,” but no other religious text was presented during the portion of the event that was open to the press. Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis , Minn. , recited a “verse from the Quran” following remarks by Obama administration officials and Democratic members of Congress.
Comment by me: In addition, our president (small p on purpose) hosts a “breakfast” which connotes the end of muslim Ramadan.
Now President Obama is encouraging schools to teach the Quran for extra credit, while at the same time, they cannot even talk about the Bible, God, pray, or salute the American Flag.
The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian
Send this to Pastors, Priests and ten people, or even one hundred ten!
No prayers of any kind should be the rule in public schools. Want to pray, do it at church or home. No one wants their children to be forced to pray in some manner that is not their own. I would not want my kids to listen to some Catholic prayer or Mormon prayer, or Jewish chant whatsoever. Pray at home. God will hear you.
I am an American and not a Christian. You imply that all Americans must be Christians. It is so wrong to have teacher led or class led prayers or people like you who try to make people feel bad because they believe differently than you. If people want to pray for themselves on their own including students in public schools and NOT DISRUPT ANYONE WHO DOES NOT WANT TO AND NOT TAKE TIME AWAY FROM EDUCATION AND LEARNING, I believe they have every right to. However there should never be teacher or school led prayers and it should never be an organized thing. Teachers and administrators at Virgin Valley High School treat people the same way you do thinking that only Christians are Americans and Christians are better. That very thought that you think you are better is what causes all this ignorance over Islam. It is a very similar religion to Christianity and you need to learn to respect others and their beliefs because embracing our differences makes us better. Because of our differences together as a whole America is greater than the sum of all it parts. Recognizing a religion as correct or good or bad is not a part of school but denying someone to pray on their own is also wrong.
Here’s a news bulletin: ALL states allow Muslim students and ANY OTHER students to pray during school hours. Only people who can’t grasp the difference between official school prayers (unconstitutional) and students praying on their own initiative (constitutional) are confused.
This the most ridiculous statement & ruling I have EVER heard of, I am glad I don’t reside in any of those states! Please DO NOT ALLOW NEVADA to follow such idiotic rulings! God help us all if this happens!
I agree with Roger
Prayer, and the Pledge. This is America, we should still be “One Nation, Under God”!!!!!!
Ms. Goodday, Are you suggesting that your Christian God is the only one that can listen to or answer prayer? That all other religions are wrong and will not be blessed? I think that is pretty narrow thinking not to mention not very Christian in practice. The other terms for God are merely other languages for the same ideal. Or, do you think a “casa” is something other than a “home”? Or, are Mexican homes not qualified to be homes? I was employed as a teacher and am still in classrooms on occasion. All of them display the flag and most schools recite the pledge of allegiance every morning, often as a whole school function. The pledge is not prayer and is not in any way restricted in public schools. The Bible can be taught in schools as history and literature, just like iconic verses from other religions. Please get your facts straight before publishing statements that are misleading–something that also seems unchristian. Finally, your use of a lower case p when referring to “our president” is correct English usage. Sorry you didn’t insult him with a small-letter snub.
President Bill Clinton continued the tradition as did his successor President George W. Bush who hosted an iftar dinner at the White House in 2001. He subsequently continued the dinners every year of his two terms. President Barack Obama hosted his first Ramadan dinner in August 2010.
The only ones who should have fear in their hearts are extreme christians (small c on purpose) who want to live in a theocracy and continue to try to FORCE their religious principles on everyone else.
This looks like some lame Facebook post or email that she decided to forward and add a few comments to the end. The information presented is false and misleading. I know this is an opinion piece but I am shocked that this newspaper is sharing this. It isn’t even her own writing and can barely be considered her opinion. And to top it off, you have it filed under Top Stories! I know we are a small town but surely you have better things to write about or share? Ridiculous!
Anyone who equates the Islamic belief with Christianity really needs to learn more about both. I would recommend reading A God Who Hates by Wafa Sultan.
Prayers in school never hurt anyone
