MMGA HAS THREE WAY TIE FOR LOW NET

The MMGA players must be getting used to the Mesquite summer heat. At least it didn’t seem to affect three players as Rory Tomsic (80), Don Mannon (79) and Ed Hoepfner (81) all tied for low net honors with 66 on July 5. Hoepfner dropped out of the race with a double bogey on the first handicap hole. Tomsic and Mannon took it to the third handicap hole before Tomsic won it outright with his par four on the 18th hole.

Andrew Yeh once again with five birdies only shot a one under par 71 for medalist honors. Bubba Petrick was second with his 78 with four birdies of his own and Mannon’s 79 was the third lowest gross round. Mannon said, “ya, but I was only one over par for my first 15 holes and finished seven over.” Petrick said, “yeh, well I have one better; I was one under after 7 holes and took a four-over-par nine on the par five 7th.

Let the tears fall.

BISHOP, HOEPFNER, SCAVETTA TIE LOW NET 72

After Tuesday’s three way tie for low net there was another three way tie on Thursday, July 7. This time it was at the Palmer golf course and Ben Bishop (87), Ed Hoepfner (85) and Gene Scavetta (84) all had their hopes up for that coveted low net prize. It was over quickly as Hoepfner’s five beat Scavetta’s six and Bishop’s seven.

Andrew Yeh struggled on his round recording no birdies but did have a pair of 39’s for medalist honors. He beat out playing partner Dave Jordan who shot 81 and had the best nine holes on the back with a score of two over par 38. Yeh did have 12 fours that included five in a row on holes 13 thru 17.

The next scheduled play is Thursday July 14 at 8 a.m. at the Conestoga with lunch. Always check your sign up sheets for any corrected times or places. Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 702-346-5636. Also check out our website at www.mesquitemensgolf .com.
