The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog baseball team lost another tough game 11-8 Tuesday night, May 3 in the Dawg Pound to the Miners from Sunrise Mountain High School. The teams pounded out 25 hits in a slugfest which was not decided until the last inning of play. The win was the first of the season in 1-A Sunrise League play for the 1-12 Miners.

Bulldogs Dallen Tanner and Jayden Perkins had three hits each to lead the offensive output by the Dawgs. The Miners jumped on the Dawgs pitcher early putting up 7 runs in the first two innings. The Bulldogs responded with five runs of their own to trail 7-5 after two complete innings. The Miners added one run in the fourth and the Dawgs scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 8-8.

The game stayed tied until the top of the seventh as the pitchers got control of the game. The Miners batters got hot scoring three runs to take control leading 11-8 in the top of the seventh. The Bulldogs could not match the Miners output falling to 2-11 in league play and 6-18 overall. The Dawgs travel to Del Sol High School Thursday, May 5 to finish the 2016 season.
