Lady Dawgs stun Cowboys late in 15-7 victory

The tables were turned Friday afternoon at Chaparral High School as the Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs took advantage of 11 errors to stun the Cowboys in the later innings for a 15-7 victory. The Bulldogs trailed the Cowboys 5-2 after two innings of play and still trailed 6-4 after four complete innings before putting up 11 runs in the final three innings to insure the win. Leading the way for the Dawgs were, Janella Fiso with three hits and Savannah Price who struggled but pitched a complete game for the win. The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Utah for a tournament on Saturday March 19. They face Moapa Valley on March 31 before facing Boulder City at home on April 1.


Lady Dogs go 2-1 at Utah Tournament

The Lady Dawgs won their opening game against Ben Lomond (Utah) 12-9 Saturday morning, outlasted Ogden (Utah) 12-9 but lost to Beaver in the championship game. Calee Clem had eight hits for the day to lead the Dogs. Janella Fiso had eight R.B.I.’s for the day.
Bulldog boys fall to Cowboys 5-0

The Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs had no answer to Chaparral High School’s Eric Villarreal Friday afternoon on the Cowboys diamond. Villarreal pitched a three hit shutout of the Dawgs for a 5-0 win. The teams battled evenly for three innings before the Cowboys struck for one run in the fourth, two each in the fifth and sixth inning to win the game. Bulldog Koby Smothers had the big hit of the day, a double but could not advance. The Bulldogs next home game will be on April 1 when they host powerhouse Boulder City.
