It may be hard to believe that yet another year has passed and it’s time again for the Mesquite Senior Games. The games offer those aged 50 and better a chance to challenge both their body and mind in a variety of events, though there are a few that are open to all ages.

The games kicked off this week with Tennis. The month of March will see the Fitness Hike, History Tour, Bridge, Basketball Skills, Track and Field, and Long Drive. Then, in April, Mesquite Senior Games offers Bicycling, Target Pistol, Pickleball, Bocce Ball, Bowling, and Softball.

New this year are the free Fitness Hike that will explore the edges of Mesquite. Hikers of any age will learn a little about our desert and the knowledge necessary when hiking there. The hike will also be a way to get a little exercise and connect with other fellow hikers.

Mesquite Senior Games is most excited about the new History Tour. This is a guided walking tour of downtown Mesquite where participants of all ages will visit historical sites and learn about generations from the past. This tour is followed by a lunch in the Virgin Valley Heritage museum.

Registration is easy. Just pick up a flyer at the Mesquite Rec Center or City Hall, or you can download the form on the Mesquite Senior Games website where you can also register online. Don’t miss the chance to experience the games.
