Ronald Lamar Runnells passed away at home on February 17, 2016 in Mesquite at the age of 83.
Ronald was born to the late Ralph Leroy Runnells and Darlene Fuller in Eureka, UT on October 21, 1932. Ronald was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He married the late Dian Spencer May 20, 1960, the late Patsy Ann Jensen November 28, 1970; and is survived by his wife Joyce Brown Runnells, married January 14, 2006.
Ronald is survived by his children, Dana Runnells, Lori Knudsen (Ivan), Jill Blair (Jerry), Jean Loader (Kent), David Runnells (Debbie), Rhonda Melvin (Scott), Dawn Bernard (James), Marta Beaudry (Kent) and Christopher Runnells (Sariah); his step-children, Patty, Suzan and David; his sister Shirley Simmons; niece Susan Gohn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed with a large posterity.
Ronald played football for the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1954. He had a long and successful career as a claims superintendent for State Farm Insurance. He was a veteran who was proud of his military service as a Captain in the Air Force. Ronald was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday February 20, 2016 at the Mesquite Stake Center, 100 N. Arrowhead Ln. A viewing will precede the funeral from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Graveside service will follow the funeral at the Mesquite City Cemetery.
Absolutely the nicest, sweetest man to know. He was so fortunate to have Joyce as his wife and they were able to enjoy their lives together for the years they had. My heart goes out to Joyce at this very sad time and their small children Dolly and Violet, the little dogs grieving as well.
