The desert south of I-15 Exit 112 hosted over 200 motorcycle and ATV racers last weekend for the Buzzards Grand Prix off road race. The Jan. 30 event featured a mix of riders aged from adult to “Pee Wee” contestants all trying to compete in a cloud of dust over the hills and ridges of the three mile course.
The races featured a mass start, with one event having over 100 bikers at the starting line all in a row and racing off with the drop of the Buzzard Motorcycle Club banner. Races were run all day, from early morning until dusk.
Contestants were largely from Las Vegas and Southern California and came with trailers and tow vehicles. In total, event sponsors said that over 600 people were at the race and many of those stayed in Mesquite.
