President Kevin J Worthen of Brigham Young University presided over four sessions of the Mesquite Nevada Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Jan. 23 and 24. Besides being the university president he also serves as an area seventy with authority to preside over this area. The first session Saturday evening was for priesthood holders followed by a session for all adults.

Early Sunday morning a special meeting just for the youth of the valley and their leaders was followed by a session for everyone of all ages. The large congregation filled the stake center on North Arrowhead Lane and overflowed to the adjacent Whipple Chapel with a televised broadcast.

The theme throughout the meetings was for members of the church to remember the sacredness of the Sabbath and to strive to keep it holy and dedicated to the Lord. Also the conference stressed the importance of strengthening one’s testimony of the divinity of the Jesus Christ, our Savior. Speakers also included Stake President David Anderson and his counselors Danny Allen and Laren Abbott.
