A rusty Lady Bulldog basketball team began 2016 losing to small school Lincoln County by a score of 41-31 in the Dawg House Saturday afternoon, Jan. 2. The Dawgs showed a lethargic offensive display missing numerous shots throughout a raggedly played basketball game.
Bulldog Brianna Todd was the one bright spot for the Dawgs with 11 points in the first half including three shots from downtown. Todd went scoreless the rest of the way.
The Dawgs led early in the game 9-6 before the Lynx went on an 11-0 lead to take a 17-9 lead early in the second period. Two three’s from Todd brought the Dawgs roaring back to trail by two points 24-22 after two quarters of play.
The Bulldogs tandem guards Emma Barnum and Spencer Green hit their first baskets of the game to begin the second half keeping the Dawgs close after three periods 30-29. Neither team could hit from the line in the period.
The fourth period was all Lincoln County as the Dawgs could only manage two free throws in the last minute of the game. The Lynx won going away 41-31 dropping the Dawgs season record to 4-7 overall. Todd led all scorers with 11 points. The Lady Bulldogs will host Moapa Valley Monday Jan. 4 in an important league matchup.
