Over the past two weeks, the Mesquite Police Department has been investigating multiple vehicle burglaries which have been occurring from inside parked motor vehicles. Over this same time period, Mesquite patrol officers and detectives have been working together on following multiple leads. Evidence obtained through the investigation led them to two specific suspects. On December 15, officers made contact with both suspects and were able to connect them to multiple vehicle burglaries. Both suspects were taken into custody and a search warrant was obtained and served on their residence. Detectives were then able to seize a large amount of property confirmed to be stolen. The suspects had also been using stolen credit cards and stolen checks to purchase items from local businesses.
Tracey Moffitt, 24, of Mesquite Nevada, was arrested and charged with felony burglary of a vehicle, felony fraudulent use of a credit card, and felony conspiracy to utter a forged instrument. Moffitt will be facing multiple other criminal charges once the investigation is concluded. Moffitt was transported and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
The second suspect, a male juvenile, was arrested and also charged with felony burglary of a vehicle, felony fraudulent use of a credit card, and felony conspiracy to utter a forged instrument. The male juvenile will also be facing multiple other criminal charges once the investigation is concluded.
The Mesquite Police Department would like to ask residents to contact the police department if they believe they may have been the victim of a vehicle burglary, and may have had their personal property stolen.
This girl has stolen cigarettes from me and my husband since the day we moved to Mesquite. Myself and my neighbors have all caught her red handed stealing off of our patios and scoping out all the cars in the parking lot… She is bad news…
we got burgled, but have no idea if it was these people or just another group of people doing the same thing…so sad when these types thing it’s ok to steal from others..in our neighborhood, we are not wealthy people..we work hard..many on social security…we struggle, like so many others..then when others steal from us..it hits really hard..but these people do not care
I have purchased items from her on the online yard sale. I certainly hope it was never stolen items. This is very disturbing to me.
I had a 50cc Buddy scooter stolen from me at the Virgin River on May 31st wonder if it was her and her friend.
