The Bulldogs had no answer for the long bombers of Snow Canyon High School (Utah) Tuesday night, Dec. 8 in the Dawg House. The Warriors took advantage of the Virgin Valley squad’s zone defense with 7 bombs from downtown for 21 points. The Bulldogs stayed with the disciplined Warrior team for the first period trailing 19-13. Bernice Fiso kept the Dawgs in the game in the first period with 7 points and numerous defensive boards. The Dawgs tied the Warriors 19-19 early in the second period before the Warriors went on a 13-3 run to end the first half with a 32-22 lead. Fiso led the Dawgs with 10 points.

The third period was reminiscent of last week’s game with Faith Lutheran as the Bulldogs went cold and committed six turnovers. The Dawgs did not score a point as the quick Warriors hit four threes in the period and blew by the Dawgs for easy baskets. Snow Canyon had 17 points in the period for a 49-22 advantage going into the last period.

The Bulldogs showed a little sign of life in the fourth period with 11 points against the Warriors second front. The Warriors added 11 points of their own to win going away 60-33. Bulldog Spencer Green had five points in the quarter to finish with 11 points for the game. Fiso had 12 points to lead the Dawg scorers. Forward Brianna Todd chipped in 8 points in the losing effort.

The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-5 going into the league opener Thursday against TECH in Las Vegas. The Dawgs lost three games at the recently completed Page Invitational Tournament. The Dawgs will host Del Sol on Dec.15 before hosting their annual Lady Bulldog Invitational beginning Friday Dec. 18. A complete tournament preview will be in the Dec 17 issue of MLN.
