Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler, Rick McDonald, presented a check to Deputy Chief Scott Taylor at the Nov. 24 City Council meeting for the Mesquite Police Department’s annual Shop with a Cop program. The money will be used by the Police Department to help buy gifts for needy children so that Christmas will be a little brighter for those families who might not be able to afford gifts for their children.
The Elks Lodge will also serve lunch to all of the children participating in the program along with the police employees who escort them on the shopping excursion.
The Mesquite Elks Lodge challenges other organizations, businesses and individuals who want to participate in this worthy program to also make donations. They can contact the Mesquite Police Department for more information on how to make a donation.
No tie?
What a wonderful program Mesquite PD has with “Shop with a Cop”, and of course the generosity of the Mesquite Elks comes shining through once again! Pardon me for commenting and not living in Mesquite any longer, but I still follow Mesquite closely and support the PD in all their endeavors. Likewise I am a member of New Philadelphia Elk’s Lodge #510, here in Ohio.
Congrats to the PD for once again making Christmas a little brighter for so many youngsters and to the Mesquite Elks for doing their part in serving their community and demonstrating the mission of every Elks lodge throughout this great country of ours! Mesquite truly is the diamond in the desert!!!
