On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Mesquite Police Officers responded to the Wells Fargo Bank to investigate three suspicious persons who were suspected of attempting to cash stolen checks.  Arriving officers discovered the vehicle the three suspects had arrived at the bank in was listed as stolen out of Utah.  Once all three suspects were out of the bank and near their vehicle, the officers moved in and were able to safely take the three suspects into custody.

The officers began an investigation into the alleged check fraud.  Officers found all three suspects to be in possession of stolen checks.  It was determined the suspects had obtained multiple checks from various persons as well as a business, and were traveling around the city of Mesquite attempting to cash the checks.

Officers contacted the owner of the stolen vehicle and were given permission to search the vehicle’s contents.  The search yielded multiple stolen electronic devices including cell phones and a laptop computer.  The investigation into the remaining stolen items is ongoing as officers are attempting to contact the owners.  Further criminal charges related to the stolen items are pending.
