The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) Trunk or Treat festivities marked the start of the fall holiday season with crowds that doubled attendance from the previous year. The second floor of the Casablanca parking garage was a real treat for the 4200 children who visited trunks sponsored by 46 local businesses who joined the MPD in handing out candy.

The Halloween spirit sizzled with excitement as the businesses vied for the title of Scariest or Most Festive Trunk. Lindy Corp claimed first place for Scariest Trunk with Mesquite Veterinary Clinic coming in second. The top award for Most Festive trunk went to Fusion Spa and Salon while Mesquite Local News placed second.

The trunk competition has grown each year with businesses planning weeks in advance hoping to win first place. The winners this year received complementary dining passes to the Sierra Buffet at the Virgin River Casino.

“We appreciate our business community. They know Trunk or Treat is all about keeping a watchful eye over the children while everyone has a great time. Without their support this event would not be possible. We extend our thanks to everyone who supported this event. Your efforts are appreciated,” said Police Chief Troy Tanner.
