This year in the 2015 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 119 passed approving a continuation of the 1998 school bond. This bond money is allocated for Clark County School District Capital Improvement Projects such as: building construction, classroom additions, technology upgrades and innovative approaches.
Clark County School District has scheduled only eight public meetings across the district to get input from community members about what they would like to see included in the 2015 Capital Improvement Plan. Mesquite has been selected as one of the eight locations. Parents and community members of Mesquite are invited to attend a special meeting with CCSD leadership on September 4 at 10 a.m. at Virgin Valley High School to share their ideas.
Mesquite’s Community Education Advisory Board is hoping to learn from the community at this meeting what the community’s priorities are for its students. Then they will be able to work towards these goals with the CCSD School Board and leadership. Amy Marshall President of CEAB said, “This is a rare opportunity to have a meeting such as this in our area. This is our chance to share our thoughts and opinions with the District about how they spend our tax dollars. We can show that we care about our students here in the Virgin Valley area.”
All interested parents and community members are encouraged to attend Friday, September 4 at 10 a.m. at Virgin Valley High School.
