Wounded Warrior Athletics (WWA) is hosting a golf tournament on Sunday, Aug. 23. The community is welcome to come out and show support for these brave men and women for the LT. Darryn Andrews Open at Conestoga Golf Club.
Wounded Warrior Athletics (WWA), a 501c3 non-profit organization, was created to help wounded combat and disabled veterans through athletic events.
“Our principle mission is to provide rehabilitative experiences through golf, softball, scuba diving and family-inclusive opportunities for wounded veterans from every conflict in an effort to improve the quality of life for these American heroes,” said John Hosea, a two-time Purple Heart recipient and VP of Operations for WWA. “Utilizing these rehabilitative experiences helps improve the mental and physical condition…such as balance, coordination, muscle memory, stamina to name a few…of each and every Wounded Warrior returning from combat.”
Hosea said the main objective with WWA programs is to provide a safe and controlled atmosphere where these Wounded Warriors can establish comradery while having the opportunity to be surrounded by other wounded veterans that have gone through similar military life experiences.
In the program, there are Wounded Warriors ranging from the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq conflicts I and II, Somalia, and Post 9/11 Afghanistan..
“At the end of the day, every disabled veteran matters to Wounded Warrior Athletics,” said Hosea.
