Many calls that the Police Department receives are not always included in the blotter, as they are under investigation or a synopsis is not received. To show the amount of work our PD does do, we are including a weekly roster of stats.

Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for July 5-11, 2015.

July 5:

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An Officer responded to the Virgin River Casino reference a hit and run

accident, which occurred in the parking lot.

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation on W Mesquite Blvd.  The officer located drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The driver was cited and released.

Trespassing IP: Officers responded to an E Pioneer Blvd Casino, reference a report intoxicated male disturbing the peace by yelling and swearing at other customers. The male was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.

Abuse/Neglect: An Officer took a telephone report, concerning custody/visitation and possible abuse concerns. Reported as a matter of information.

Dead Body: Police responded to a report of a dead body on Highland View Ct. The death was of natural causes.

July 6:

Death Investigation: An Officer was dispatched to the Hospital reference a death investigation. An interview was conducted and the incident of forwarded to the Investigative Services Division.

Weapon Offense IP: Officer responded to a Mesquite Springs Dr residence reference an accidental discharge of a firearm. Officer later cited the subject for discharge of a firearm within city limits.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Mesquite Officer responded to a Falcon Ridge Pkwy business reference a report of property damage.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Mesquite Officer responded to a Bertha Howe Ave business reference an assault. Information was gathered and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

July 7:

Threatening: An Officer responded to assist a citizen on Sunvalley Dr with questions about threatening messages.  A report was taken.

Citizen Assist: An Officer responded to the Police Department and took a report of credit card fraud. Information was obtained and a report completed. The case is being investigated.

Lost Property: An Officer took a report of a lost wallet on Mesa Blvd and its contents. Wallet has not been turned in at this time.

Keep The Peace: Officers responded to a call reference keep the peace on W Mesquite Blvd. Upon speaking with the complainant it was discovered he had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court. The complainant was arrested and transported to Mesquite Detention Center.

July 8:

Missing Person: Officer took a report of a missing person from Las Vegas.

Wanted Person: A person walked into the Mesquite Police Department requesting assistance. A records check showed the person had a misdemeanor warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the person was taken into custody.

Theft: An officer was dispatched to a W Pioneer Blvd store, in reference to a theft that had occurred the day before.

Found Property: Officer responded to the lobby of the police Department and collected a set of keys which were found outside of a local Dental Office.

Agency Assistance: Officer’s assisted with a welfare check on Pulsipher Ln.

Assault IP: Officers were dispatched to a reported simple battery on E First North St. Witness statements were gathered and one adult female was cited and released for simple battery.

Wanted Person: Officer made contact with an adult male on Hillside Dr regarding a no bail warrant. The male was arrested and booked into jail without incident.

Controlled Substance Problem: Police contacted two adult males in a park on Marilyn Pkwy reference possession of alcohol in a city park. Both males were warned against possessing alcohol in a city park. One male was issued a citation for possession of paraphernalia and released with a court date.

July 9:

Dead Body: Officers responded to Falcon Glenn Dr for a report of an agency assist on a possible deceased person. After medical arrived it was confirmed the subject was deceased. Clark County Coroner arrived and the incident was turned over to them.

Wanted Person: An officer contacted a male on E Pioneer Blvd with an active Mesquite Municipal Court warrant. The male was arrested on the warrant.

Intoxicated Person: Officers were dispatched to an intoxicated male at an E Pioneer Blvd business. One adult male was cited and released for assault, minor consumption of alcohol, and property damage based on witness statements.

Assault/Battery: Disorderly customer at an E Pioneer Blvd business was trespassed off property.

Fraud: Officer responded to the police department on a reported fraud.  Officer obtained needed information and a report was taken.

Fraud: Officer contacted an out of state party who was the victim of credit card fraud.  Officer obtained the callers information and a report was taken.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officer’s dispatched to a N Sandhill Blvd business for a report of damage done to a vehicle.

Information Report: Report of a possible fraudulent employment newspaper ad.  Information report taken.

Trespassing IP: Officers responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino reference a trespass violator.  Male subject was identified and arrested for trespassing.

Theft: Officer was dispatched to a Mesa Blvd gas station for a report of a male subject caught shoplifting. Subject was issued a citation for petit larceny and released with a court date.

July 10:

Agency Assistance: Officer’s assisted Mohave County Sheriff’s Office with information of possible weapons violation in Beaver Dam, Arizona.

Vandalism: Officer’s took a report of vandalism on Oasis Blvd.

Citizen Assist: Officers responded to a N Sandhill Blvd business for a citizen assist.

Traffic accident W/O injury: An officer was dispatched to E Pioneer Blvd, in reference to a two vehicle traffic accident, without injuries.  One of the drivers was later taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Driving Under the Influence: Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on W Old Mill Rd. One adult male was arrested for speeding and DUI based on investigation.

Civil Dispute: Officers responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute at a Blackfoot St residence. After investigation it was determined to be a child custody issue. Both subjects were advised seek legal advice on getting custody established.

July 11:

Domestic Violence IP: Officers responded to a physical argument between two brothers on Honeysuckle Ct.  After an investigation both brothers were transported to the Mesquite Detention Center and charged with domestic battery.
