It was a fun time at the Bulldog ‘Tailgate Party’ last Friday prior to the annual ‘Battle of the Valleys’ between the Virgin and Moapa Valley High School football teams.
The party, sponsored by Kids for Sports, Smiths, Wolf Creek Golf Club and the City of Mesquite, was held in the common area of Virgin Valley High School. The party featured free BBQ, desserts, drinks and the opportunity to win prizes.
Tickets were made available by the Kids for Sports Foundation and Boulevard Home Furnishings for one lucky person to win a 50” T.V. and other prizes. Ultimately, the large T.V. went home with Department of Athletics and Leisure Services Interim Director, Nick Montoya. Kristy Thornton and Brian Wursten each went home with a prize bag from Wolf Creek. And the final winners were Mary Johnson and Sheri Chandle, who took home prize bags donated by the City of Mesquite.
Canned goods donations were also collected on site by the event organizer, Bulldog Football Coach Yori Ludvigson, for the local food banks.
Announcer Bob Snell thanked all for attending, especially the sponsors, and got a great laugh from the gathered crowd when he announced, in jest of course, that the Dawgs would be playing the ‘Evil Empire’ that evening. The food was great, the friendship like a family gathering and the mixing of youth and adults exhilarating.
