In addition to the other July 4th festivities, the Eureka Casino and Resort hosted a Cookie Contest inside their Seasons Lounge last Saturday. Nancy Hewett, one of the lead organizers of the Kids for Sports Foundation, submitted two entries that took Best Dropped Cookie and People’s Choice Best Decorated Cookie. “I am very honored that both of my entries were selected by both the judges and by the people for the People’s Choice awards,” said Hewett. “I might have gone a little over the top on the cookie monster entry, but I wanted to do something fun for the kids and for the Kids for Sports Foundation. The drop cookie category had several wonderful entries, I was very surprised and honored they select my Lemon Drop cookie for that category.” Hewett also added, “I want to give a big “Thank You” to the Eureka for putting on this wonderful event for the community and the charities.” Photo by Kris Zurbas.
