Mesquite Fire Rescue responded to an accident on Interstate 15 Tuesday evening southbound, near the 118 mile marker. Units were notified at 5:10 p.m. of a semi truck that had rolled over and a passenger vehicle was reportedly also involved. First arriving units found that there had not been a rollover, but instead a collision between the two vehicles on the roadway and that the semi truck was on its side in the center median.MLN-Semi1may14-15 MLN-Semi2may14-15

Bystanders reported that the passenger car had stopped on the interstate. When the semi tried to avoid the vehicle, it swerved into the center median, leaving the truck and trailer with extensive damage. Fire Chief Kash Christopher said, “We are really fortunate that no one was seriously injured.”

The driver of the semi was transported to Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite for evaluation. The driver of the passenger car was evaluated at the scene by Mesquite Fire Rescue Paramedics but did not wish to be transported.  The investigation is being conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
