Driving on the east side of Hafen Lane it’s difficult not to notice the construction happening near the pond.

That is the location of the new splash pad that the Mesquite City Council approved to be built in May 2014, after voting against it once due to funding. However, due to a special Community Development Block Grant, and some reworking of the project by Public Works Director Bill Tanner to fit that funding, a bid was awarded to Tradewest Construction, which is headquartered in Mesquite, and the plans were set into motion.MLN-Splashapr9-15

With the waiting almost over, local children who live south of the I-15 will now have an area to access for summer fun when the temperatures rise.

According to city staff, workers are installing the drain lines, setting the pumps and next will be the roof. The actual ‘pad’ is also being formed now.
