On Wednesday, January 28, the Mesquite Police Investigative Services Division (Narcotics Detectives) concluded a lengthy investigation into the sales and trafficking of controlled substances involving multiple suspects within the Mesquite area. At around 5:00 p.m., the Mesquite Police S.W.A.T. team executed a search warrant at a Mesquite residence, resulting in five adults being arrested and the recovery of illegal drugs, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.
Fred Booth, 30, was arrested and charged with: Five felony counts of sales of a controlled substance, five felony counts of trafficking a controlled substance, seven felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, and two felony counts of sales of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.
Marcus Twist, 31, was arrested and charged with: One felony count of sales of a controlled substance, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Erik Baltazar-Valdez, 26, was not at the residence during the execution of the search warrant. Erik was however later located, arrested and charged with: Three felony counts of sales of a controlled substance, and one felony count of sales of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.
Mesquite Police Chief Troy Tanner commented on the investigation; “I commend the Investigative Services Division for their dedication to combating the illegal drug issues within our city. The professionalism in which our detectives and our S.W.A.T. team conducted themselves is a testament to our Police Department’s commitment to keep our community safe.”
According to the Clark County Detention Center, the arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court on February 3, 2015.
