NHP logoPreliminary investigation revealed that on January 24, 2015 at approximately 1:20 a.m., a white 1992 BMW 325 IS coupe was traveling eastbound on SR-168, west of mile marker 18 Clark County. The driver, 26 year old Vincent Bushhead from Moapa, allowed the vehicle to cross left of center and enter the westbound travel lane. Bushhead overcorrected the steering to the right causing him to lose control. The vehicle rotated clockwise and traveled southeast, running off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle’s right side tires furrowed-in and it overturned. The vehicle struck the dirt/rock embankment before coming to rest on its wheels facing northwest, south of SR-168. The left rear passenger, 35 year old David Lee from Moapa, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected, coming to rest lying supine southeast of the vehicle.

David Lee sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by Coroner David Clegg on January 24, 2015, at 6:20 a.m.

Vincent Bushhead and a 19 year old male passenger were transported to University Medical Center by ground.

Upon release from hospital, Vincent Bushhead was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for DUI resulting in Death and Failing to Drive on Right Side of Roadway. As of Tuesday morning, he was being held on multiple counts and total bail was set around $200,000. His court date is set for Wednesday, February 4.

This marks the Nevada Highway Patrol-Southern Command’s 4th fatal vehicle collision for 2015.
