During January 13, 2015 City Council meeting, the Council formed an ad-hoc committee to study the City’s the role in economic development incentives.  Citizens are invited to submit their application to be part of the committee.

Mayor Allan Litman pointed out that, “We are looking for people with real-world experience with financial incentives–both from the private and public sectors.  We are confident that there are those in our community with experience with these concepts and who are willing to help us develop the best incentives possible.”

The timing of the creation of the committee is meant to coincide with the City Council’s strategic planning efforts.  “We want to make sure that we are incentivizing things that the community wants,” noted City Manager Andy Barton.  “The incentives discussion cannot happen independent of the financial realities of the City’s current budget.  Consequently, the committee will wrap up its work prior to the City’s budget being adopted, so that any financial impacts can be accounted for in the budget.”

Interested parties should submit their applications to the Clerk’s office by Thursday, February 5, 2014 at 5 p.m.  The committee meetings are open to the public and all are invited to come and provide comment.
