The Virgin Valley High School men jumped out to an early lead of 19-5 after one quarter of play Friday night at S.E.C.T.A.

The Dawgs balanced scoring increased the lead over the Roadrunners to 30-11 at the Half. The Dawgs still were comfortably in front 37-19 after three periods but the winless Roadrunners were not ready to throw in the towel. The Roadrunners outscored the Dawgs 26-13 in the final period, coming within three points of the lead. The Dawgs won behind a balanced scoring attack led by Zach Barnum’s 10 points. Seven Dawgs had five points or better. Bulldogs Keegan Biasi and Hogan Fowles added 8 points each and provided spark off the bench.

The Dawgs’ Sunrise League record climbed to 5-3, one game ahead of Sunrise Mountain for the last spot for tourney play. The Dawgs will host Del Sol on Tuesday, January 27 and travel to Moapa Valley on Friday, January 30 to face the arch-rival Pirates in their new gym.
