On Saturday, December 6, Mesquite Police Officers were dispatched to a local residence reference a burglary. The homeowner/victim discovered a firearm, ammunition, a golf cart, and other miscellaneous items were stolen from their residence. Officers and detectives processed the crime scene and immediately started chasing down leads on possible suspects.

Later that evening officers located a male and a female juvenile suspect who led them on a foot pursuit into the desert area behind the Eureka Casino.  The female juvenile admitted to stealing items from a local business and was issued a citation and released to her parents.

The male juvenile admitted to various crimes pertaining to the burglary, which included: Grand Larceny Auto, Grand Larceny Firearm, and Possession of Stolen Property. The male juvenile was transported to Clark County Juvenile Detention Center in Las Vegas. All the items from the burglary and the petit larceny were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

Mesquite Police Deputy Chief Scott Taylor acknowledged and commended the officers responsible for promptly capturing the criminals and returning the property to the victims. Deputy Chief Taylor also reminded citizens to take those simple steps that will help protect you from being victimized. Deputy Chief Taylor stated “This incident shows us that potentially anyone is capable of committing serious crimes and we as citizens need to lock up and secure our homes, cars, and valuables.”
