Spencer Green named 1-A Southern Division Goalkeeper of Year
Josilynn Lara garners 1-A Southern Division honors

The Virgin Valley High School soccer team held their annual season ending banquet Thursday night honoring the 2014 team. After dinner assistant coach, K.C. Anderson began the evening distributing certificates of competition to his junior varsity players.

Head coach Bob Snell then distributed varsity letter winners to his record winning team. The Dawgs 12 wins in 2014 were the most in the history of the program. Snell announced Bulldog players who made the 1-A Sunrise Conference teams. Taking first team honors were Abbie Barnum, Josilynn Lara and goalkeeper Spencer Green. Second team all-conference players were Emma Dodenbier and Kalli Graves. Named honorable mention, were Taylor Bryant, Marlen Quiarte and Ana Mejia.

Lara and Green received plaques for making the 1-A All-Southern Division first team while Barnum was named to the second squad. Green received additional honors by being named Southern Division goalkeeper of the year. Green had an amazing 11 shutouts for the season. Snell then read a letter from sports news distributor Max/Preps naming Barnum National Soccer Player of the Week for her work during a recent game.

The final award of the evening went to Bulldog head coach Bob Snell who was named 1-A Sunrise and 1-A Southern Division girl’s Coach of the Year.
