The rains came but the scheduled Veterans Memorial Service continued as host veteran and Mayor Al Litman had all attendees pick up their chair and move into the covered area of Veterans Memorial Park. The day’s activities began with Reveille by Carolyn Whaley followed by bag-piper Dennis Hangey’s version of Military Marshalling. The Veterans Honor Guard posted the Colors as Litman led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. All flags were then placed in Half-mast position as Elks Chaplain Darlene Carpenter did the Invocation. Litman introduced The Treble Makers who sang various patriotic songs.

Litman gave welcome remarks prior to introducing the Veterans Parade Grand Marshall Pete Blair. The Honor Guard Rifle Squad then fired three volleys in memory of those who served their country. Carpenter gave the Benediction and Litman thanked all for attending.

The morning’s parade and Veterans BBQ were canceled as rain poured down from the skies. According to Litman, it will not be rescheduled.
