The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog tennis squad faced Moapa Valley Tuesday afternoon in a co-ed tennis match and came out on the short end with an 11-7 score.

The Bulldogs were no match for the Pirates’ top seeds in boys and girls single and double matches. Bulldog first seed Tyler Hughes went 2-1 for the day but lost to the Pirates top seed Andy Beckstrand. Bulldog girl’s top seed Natilyn Faught went 2-1 for her day’s matches.

The loss dropped the Bulldog boys to third place one game behind the Pirates but still in contention for a birth in the playoffs. The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-2 in league and 5-5 overall. Regionals begin on October 7. This loss dropped the girls from the playoff picture.
