Residents of a Sun City Mesquite Home were notified early Sunday morning by neighbors that their home was on fire.

Mesquite Police Communications Dispatchers began receiving calls at two minutes past midnight of a residence on fire on Bull Whip Point in Sun City.  With an initial report of heavy smoke showing from the structure, responding Mesquite Fire and Emergency Services crews requested assistance from Beaver Dam Fire District and Bunkerville Fire on response.

Upon arrival, Engine-11 reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage area and was forced to initiate a defensive fire attack.   After knocking down the main body of the fire, they were able to enter the structure and extinguish all remaining hot spots.

Fire damage was predominantly limited to the garage and the attic above. Other areas of the structure also suffered some smoke and water damage.  The initial damage has been estimated at $75,000.  One firefighter did suffer a minor hand injury battling the blaze but was able to continue fighting the fire and did not require medical attention.  There were no injuries to any civilians.  Initial cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but it is still under investigation.
