From the earliest times of our organization, Elks have held their Mothers in great esteem, such that, our Statues state that we are to hold a simple ceremony annually in honor of our mothers.  It is proper that we do so on the day that has been set aside by our nation in tribute to our mothers.

The Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811 will celebrate Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014 with an appreciation ceremony and brunch starting at 11:00 AM, at 545 Riverside Rd., Mesquite.  All Elks members are encouraged to attend and to bring their mother either in person or in spirit.  The event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.

The Elks ritual for our Mother’s Day ceremony contains the following quote:  “Where is there another who will make the sacrifices, suffer the pain and continue to face the storms of life that the child may be protected?  Who can measure the value of that priceless jewel, a Mother’s love?  If the Almighty ever searched for a treasure house in which to store the jewels of Love, Kindness, Self-Sacrifice, Devotion, Peace and Patience, His All-seeing eye must have rested on a Mother’s heart.”

It is with those heart-felt sentiments that we celebrate this special day and encourage all members of the community to either join us or to observe Mother’s Day in their own unique way of thanks to their mother.
