The Virgin River Bowling Center is hosting the 2014 state tournament this year.

The tournament began last Friday (April 18). and will continue every Saturday and Sunday through May 11th.

This is a handicap tournament divided into two divisions, 180 pin average and above and 179 and down.

The bowlers have the option of competing in any or all of three events, singles and doubles, team, and all events.


We had several local bowlers score well the first weekend.

In the team event 179 and under Oasis Chiropractic is in first place scoring a 2800.

The singles event has Maury Harman in 7th place in the 180 and up division with a 668 and Ron Nichols rolled a 715 in the 179 and under for 10th place.

In the doubles 179 and under Laura Branchini and Mike Ferris are in 3rd with a 1411 and Larry Stineman and Ron Nichols rolled a 1404 for 4th.

The all events 180 and up are lead by Gene Peters with a 2016 followed in 2nd by Maury Hardman with a 2005.

Reiko Schultz is in 8th place at 2029 and Wayne Adams is 9th with a 2010 in the 1279 and under all events.
