The Virgin Valley High School track and field squad won both the girl’s and boy’s meets Wednesday April 11 against Sunrise Mountain ad Cheyenne High Schools. The Ladies scored 73 points to Sunrise Mountain’s 66 points and Cheyenne High Schools 33 points. Leading the way for thr Lady Dogs were Emma Wilson in the high jump, Nakita Eskelsen in the long jump, Hailee Thronley in the triple jump, Viviana Vega in the 3200 meter run, Alyssa Ponce in the 1600 meter run, Julia Ramirez in the 300 meter hurdles and Sarah Walters in the 800 meter run. The Bulldog 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams won against no competition. Wilson added a second in the pole vault, Emily Teerlink placed second in the long jump and Jaylee Whipple had seconds in the high jump and triple jump. “I thought we bounced back well from last week and had a good meet on Wednesday.” Said Bulldog coach Gary Hartman.

On the mem’s side the Bulldogs won their meet with scoring 87.5 points to Sunrise Mountain’s 52 points and Cheyenne followed with 41.5 points. Leading the way for the Boys with first place finishes were Jeremy Perkins in the discus, Taua Fiso in the shot, Brogan Bingham in the pole vault, Ty Bryant in the 110 meter high hurdles, Cameron Noel in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles and Kyler Worthen in the 3200 meter run. Also placing were Victor Colmenero with a second in the 1600 meters, Mele Paongo garnered a second in the 110 high hurdles and a third in the 300 meter hurdles, The Bulldogs won the 4×400 meter relay and placed second in three others. Perkins and Fiso, reversed their wins with seconds in the throws. Bryant added points with a second in the pole vault and Jaiden Juan placed second in the triple jump. The Bulldog squads travel to Mojave on the 18th of April for a tri-meet.
