Illegal immigrants bringing epidemic

This isn’t just an immigration crisis. It is a health crisis that could cost innocent lives.

Illegal immigrants are pouring across our borders in record numbers. Along just one section of the Texas border agents have detained 150,000 illegals this year. As many as 90,000 unaccompanied children from Mexico, Central and South America are expected to enter the country this year.

And they are bringing more than the clothes on their backs. Because immunization rules are so lax in their home countries, they are bringing life-threatening diseases. Fox News reports that 10 to 25 percent of them are suffering from scabies, a highly contagious intensely itchy rash caused by insect mites.

Already drug-resistant strains of tuberculosis are spreading across Texas. Additionally, many carry Dengue Fever, measles, staph infections, strep throat and chicken pox.

In Nevada in the past year there have been several outbreaks of TB in schools. A mother and her two infant daughters died of TB in a Las Vegas hospital, leaving 20 hospital staffers infected.

Some immigrants are carrying the highly contagious swine flu virus. Two cases were confirmed in minors in separate camps in Texas recently, according to Investor’s Business Daily.

Many of the children are being crammed into close quarters in military barracks where the diseases can be spread.

Conditions are so bad at some of the holding pens that doctors and nurses have been threatened with arrest if they talk to the media about the squalid conditions and health risks to the public. “There were several of us who wanted to talk about the camps, but the agents made it clear we would be arrested,” a psychiatric counselor told a Fox News reporter.

“It was not a good atmosphere in terms of health,” an anonymous nurse said. “I would be talking to children and lice would just be climbing down their hair.”

Homeland Security will not let congressmen visit without weeks of advance notice and then they must surrender their cellphones.

Many are warning of a potential public health crisis that could prove fatal to children, the elderly and those with suppressed immune systems, such as cancer patients.

The federal government is already using buses and airplanes to transport these illegals all across the country, exposing the unsuspecting who next use those buses and planes.

“We are sending people everywhere. The average person doesn’t know what’s going on down here,” Border Patrol agent and Rio Grande Valley Union representative Chris Cabrera told an Arizona television station. “There’s been an outbreak of
scabies that’s been going on for the past month.”

Cabrera added, “We are starting to see chicken pox, MRSA staph infections, we are starting to see different viruses.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns, “Many refugees and immigrants originate from countries with a high prevalence of tropical and other infectious diseases that may present a threat to individual or public health.”

With the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy of “catch and release” — demanding no more than a promise to show up at a hearing months hence, for which almost none ever appears — we are planting germ and virus land mines in our midst.

Defying a gag order, Border Patrol agent Hector Garcia told CNN that the Obama administration is “aiding, abetting and facilitating the smuggling of illegal aliens across the border.”

When the latest surge of illegal immigration hit the headlines, Obama did not order more guards to the border. No, he announced a “surge” of immigration judges and attorneys to process the paperwork.

These illegals should not only be deported, they should be turned back at the border and not allowed to cross into this country, where they expect to be fed, housed, healed, educated and given welfare. It may sound harsh, but it is the humanitarian thing to do for our own citizens’ physical and financial health.

Send us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, the wretched refuse, the homeless and tempest-tossed, just not the disease-ridden. — TM

  1. Please include links so we can reference where you got your information in your article. As I read your editorial the very first thing that hits me is that 90,000 unaccompanied children from Mexico, Central America and South America are expected to enter our country this year is incorrect. The problem is stemming from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala so that leaves us with just Central America as our issue. Let’s present our facts correctly and not create false information to promote mass hysteria. Here are links to my information:

    • It does not matter want counties these illegals who are invading our southern boarder come from they need to be stopped.

On the other hand these illegals do take Jobs and socials services from Americans and is Obama and Liberals goal

  2. This is just the parroting of misinformaiton. “There is a long, sad and shameful tradition in the United States in using fear of disease, contagion and contamination to stigmatize immigrants and foreigners,” said Arthur Caplan, director of the Division of Medical Ethics at New York University’s Langone Medical Center.

While some of the kids are indeed ill, they don’t have anything exotic or unexpected, said Dr. Mark Ward of Texas Children’s Hospital, who is president of the Texas Pediatric Society.

Hewre is the truth : When children come into the Department of Health and Human Services program, they are given a well-child exam and given all needed childhood vaccinations to protect against communicable diseases,” said a spokesman for the HHS Administration for Children and Families.
“They are also screened for tuberculosis, and receive a mental health exam. If children are determined to have any communicable disease or have been exposed to a communicable disease, they are placed in a program or facility that has the capacity to quarantine. THEY ARE NOT DISBURSED INTO THE COMMUNITY!!!!!

    • softblueyz says:

Seriously John? Do you work for the Department of Health? Are you at the border? At the detention camps? At any of the facilities that have been set up to examine them? Are you privy to what is going on? Are you saying that it isn’t possible? My God, do you even know what is going on???

Don’t forget to vote for Obama in 2016 John.

      • No Softblueyz…. John makes a valid point. People like you are living in a world of fear and being spoon feed hysteria by unprofessional media. Mostly the problem here is no sources were cited by the author. Please stop being a coward and blaming everything on a single man, we are all to blame in the problems our country faces. We are nation filled with no action an hidden agendas brought by both political parties. Like our very first President Washington said in his Farewell Address:
“The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.
Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.
It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”
Let’s hope we can follow in the true direction our founding fathers and stop this madness of political parties playing us citizens against each other and work to a better solution not influenced by either party.

      • SOFTBLUEYZ….john is an immense doorknob.

This stuff is real. I can’t believe the USA is done. Illegals create the policy.

And your new language is Sp#####.

Contageous diseases only make more fun.

        Let’s frolic…..

        • Nope Fred Illegals don’t make the policy its the people like you who refuse to see the bigger problem with our government who have done nothing for the past 50+ years. If our government officials were really worried about this problem why did they not fix it back then? John never states the disease they carry is not real, he states that its being overly dramatized by bad media. Yes some carry scabies, yes some might have TB but these are things you can find in any of our cities especially with our poor. So instead of wasting our time frolicking in fantasies of our country’s downfall lets actually find a solution. Lets make our voices be heard to our government officials that we are tired of their politics and want action done.

          • I restate my comment……
Illegals are the group policy is made in favor of.
Of course they don’t “make” policy.

And i cant wait to be forced to learn that new “exotic” language spanish
so i can exist in the USA ! !

  3. This is a horrendous article. No original content or research and extremely biased. This is poorly written and essentially rehashed from conservative news sources. Quality journalism entails information that has been thoroughly verified. Besides the fact that this article provides a biased opinion, the subjects are CHILDREN who are referred to as something parasitic. Your ethnocentric views are disgusting and quite frankly I fear uninformed hatred spewed from the mouths of idiots more so than scabies!

  4. That guy says:

We have enough of our own problems. Anyone crossing the border, man, woman or child should be shot on site. When we send troops to other countries without permission, what happens to them? They get shot at, because they shouldn’t be there and nobody wants them there. They are trespassing. If they can’t go get a passport and come here legally and apply for a visa, then they should stay in their own country. Do it the right way, or stay the hell out. That’s my piece.
