3d Jean Battaglia shows how to create 3-D paper tole art in April 22 workshop. She is seen here with her artwork currently on display at Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery.
Virgin Valley Artists Association member, Jean Battaglia, will teach a workshop in 3-D paper tole at the Mesquite Fine Arts Center classroom on Wednesday, April 22, 9 a.m. to noon. This classic art form is the creation of dimensional pictures, made by layering many cut out sections of the same image on top of each other. Constructing a piece of 3-D paper tole is an exacting skill that produces startlingly lovely artwork.
In her workshop, Battaglia will provide background on the paper tole art form, and students will complete a 3-D floral project. Advance sign-up for this workshop is available at the Gallery front desk. Fee for the class, $25, includes materials.
Those curious about paper tole art can see several examples of Jean’s work displayed at the Gallery, including a complex scene of horse riders that is entered in the “Artists and Poets” competition.
Visit the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery at 15 W Mesquite Blvd, Mesquite Nevada, to enroll for this workshop and enjoy and buy original local art. The current exhibition, “Artists and Poets” pairs visual artwork created to a poet’s theme. The gallery is open 10a-4p, Monday through Saturday. See website www.mesquitefineartcenter.com and VVAA’s Facebook page. Gallery phone is 702-346-1338.
