Golf tournament to benefit first responders
The 6th Annual “Best of the Best” First Responders Charity Golf Tournament is set to return on Saturday, June 13, bringing the community together in support of Mesquite’s police, fire, and rescue personnel.
The event will take place at Conestoga Golf Club, 1499 Falcon Ridge Parkway, with a 6 a.m. registration and a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
Organized to benefit local first responders, the tournament offers both a day of friendly competition and a meaningful opportunity to give back. Teams of five can sign up for an entry fee of $300 per person, with 40 percent of proceeds going directly to the Mesquite First Responders Charity.
In addition to supporting a vital cause, participants will compete for cash prizes, including $6,000 for first place, $2,500 for second and $1,500 for third. The event is sponsored by Eagles Landing and is expected to draw strong community participation once again.
Those interested in registering a team or learning more can contact organizer Kenny at 775-385-5925 or via email at Kenny@eagleslandingmgmt.com.
‘Pet Mania’ contest supports animals in need
The Mesquite Fine Arts Center is inviting the community to get creative for a good cause with its upcoming “Pet Mania” art competition. Hosted by the VVAA Pottery Studio in partnership with the City of Mesquite Animal Shelter, the event blends artistic expression with support for local animals in need.
Pet Mania encourages participants to design and submit food-safe pottery pieces while celebrating the creativity of local artists.
Instead of a traditional entry fee, participants are asked to donate new, unopened dry cat or dog food valued at $15 or more. Organizers emphasize that no cash donations will be accepted, reinforcing the event’s mission to directly benefit the animal shelter.
All entries, along with completed forms and donations, must be submitted to the VVAA Pottery Studio by the deadline of Aug. 27 at 2 p.m.
Winners will be selected the following day, Aug. 28, and recognized during an art reception in September.
Two winners will receive prizes, including a $100 VVAA Pottery Studio gift certificate and 30 days of free wheel and roller use.
