‘Seussical Jr.’ coming to Community Theatre
The whimsical world of Dr. Seuss will come to life on stage this summer as the Mesquite Community Theatre and Virgin Valley Theatre Group present “Seussical Jr.”
The family-friendly musical production will feature beloved Dr. Seuss characters and stories brought together in an imaginative performance filled with music, humor and colorful storytelling.
Music for the local production is supervised, adapted and produced by Bryan Louiselle, with direction by Wende Killinger.
Performances are scheduled at Mesquite Community Theatre, located at 150 N. Yucca St. with showtimes including: Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, June 13 at 2 and 7 p.m.

Golf tourney benefits first responders
The 6th Annual “Best of the Best” First Responders Charity Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, June 13, at Conestoga Golf Club. The event will raise money to support Mesquite Police, Fire and Rescue personnel through the Mesquite First Responders Charity.
Registration begins at 6 a.m. with a 7 a.m. shotgun start at the award-winning golf club located at 1499 Falcon Ridge Parkway.
The tournament features a $300 entry fee per person with five-player teams competing for cash prizes, including $6,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place and $1,500 for third place. Organizers say 40 percent of every entry fee will go directly to the charity.

Young actors ready to rock the stage
The performance of School of Rock: The Musical – Young Actors Edition at Mesquite Community Theatre is scheduled June 19-20.
Directed by Wende Killinger, the production is based on the popular movie and features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story follows a group of students who discover confidence, teamwork and a love for music through rock ’n’ roll.
Performances are scheduled for: Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, June 20 at 2 and 7 p.m.
