Some bowlers collect baseball cards and other sports memorabilia, and others, like Jeremy Telford, have a habit of collecting honor scores.
And he added to his collection this season with the scintillating second 800 series of his career.
Jeremy Telford
Competing in the Monday Scratch League at the Virgin River Bowling Center he began his high-octane performance tossing a 269, followed with a 279 with 11 strikes, and finished a stellar outing with a 268 for a stratospheric 816 series.
So, with his 816, and 813 with 30 strikes in 2013, along with seven 300 games, he also has bragging rights, along with Scott Mattingly and Jacoby Ford as the only bowlers in Mesquite bowling history who’ve bowled both an 800 series and 300 game in league play at the V.R.B.C. since that venue opened in 1998. Even the late Darwin Wimer, the best bowler in the history of bowling at that venue did not accomplish that extraordinary achievement with his three 300 games but no 800 series.
Switching gears here, in this article we will only cover scores from all the leagues who bowled beginning on Monday, March 31st, Tuesday April 1st, and the Early Risers League on April 2nd. That means scores and coverage from the Wednesday Men’s League on April 2nd and Thursday’s City High Rollers League will be covered in an article several days from now.
Also, if your league secretary emails me the results, including all scores from all of the bowlers involved in a roll-off and which team won the league title I will also cover that. I’m still not back in Mesquite so I do not have access to that information.
Okay, let’s hit the bowling action where Mark Burkhardt contined putting together a terrific first year of bowling in Mesquite with some impressive scores including a 705 series with a 286 gem in his King & Queens League, and no surprise here as Scott Mattingly pounded out a 694 with a 255.
And Logan Hendricks did a great job punching out a 690, Rob Szuba is another new name in Mesquite this season and in Kings & Queens League action tallied a heckuva nice 682, and Dan Aslin is well known for his amazing hiking hobby and also his outstanding bowling like his 681 with a 256 in his Monday Scratch League.
Meanwhile, Bruce Hooley brought his strike ball to the party which means some serious scoring action and he delivered with a first-rate 679 effort, and it wasn’t that many years ago when Dylan Kesl took up bowling and it wasn’t all that long after when he booked his first 600, and these days he’s routinely posting darn good scores like his 676.
In other action, Doug Love does an absolutely super job promoting bowling away from the lanes, and on the lanes continues piling up good scores like his 679 in Kings & Queens League action which included his umpteenth 279 with 11 strikes putting him a strike away from his third 300 game in Mesquite.
In single game play, Randy Kezior (678) fired a super 279, John Hollaway (610) punched out a 278, while Dave Harris (664) navigated the lanes for a 269, and Russ Marshall (640) did a great job rolling a 270 in his Gamblers 4 Aces League and will soon be heading to Alaska for the summer.
Ernie Kala logged a 254, Bob Marget is a big Minnesota Twins fan and checked in with a 246 game, Jeremy Turlington (604) uncorked a 235, while Daren Simonds booked a 215, and Dave Castro pocketed a 205.
In the women’s side of the ledger, Diane Marget led the scoring charge with a 626 on consistent games of 215, 209, 202, Cheryl Rogers put together some good scoring production with a 574 including a 218, and Jamie Turlington’s (568-211) good scores give her strong back-to-back performances, Renee Swall tossed a competitive 561 with a 203, and Lee Ann Harmes (526-189) delivered a solid outing.
Mary Ann Davis (538) led single game scoring with a 229, Kim Marshall (548) peppered the lanes with a 211, while Sandy Sheppard (557) bagged a 208, and Janie Rappe (518) merits ink for a 204 game and season-high 212 in her Ladies 4 Fun League.
