Sherman R. Frederick/Properly Subversive

“Minatur innocentibus qui parcit nocentibus” is a long-understood legal concept that means “sparing the guilty threatens the innocent.”

No better example of this than what happened in Texas over the Memorial Day weekend.

Sherman Frederick

It began in 2023 when a Venezuelan national, Daikerlyn Alejandraa Gonzalez-Gonzalez, and her boyfriend, Maikel Coello Perozo, snuck into the United States illegally. Border Patrol arrested them, both released without bail. They pinky-swore to return for court.

Now, fast forward to this Memorial Day weekend. Gonzalez and Perozo are at Oak Grove Park, Gonzalez on a jet ski and Perozo on the beach. Gonzalez plowed into a kayak occupied by Air Force cadet Ava Moore, 18.

It knocked the life out of Moore. Gonzales and her boyfriend, Perozo, fled the scene, crashing into two cars in the process.

They were subsequently arrested in Dallas and charged; she for second-degree felony manslaughter, and he for helping her escape from police.

Sanctuary People think they’re doing the Lord’s work, believing the current worldwide immigration mess is something like the Underground Railroad of pre-Civil War America.

They delude themselves.

What’s happening today in 2025 America is nothing like that.

Above is a selfie from Gonzales’ social media page. She’s not downtrodden. She’s gaming the system.

Meanwhile, there’s Ava Moore, below. A high school athlete and honors student just beginning a career in the Air Force. Ava would be alive today had our government done its job properly in 2023.

Minatur innocentibus qui parcit nocentibus.

No other way to see it.
