Sherman R. Frederick/Properly Subversive

Five of the 26 people who staff the Great Basin National Park were terminated in the across-the-board cuts to the federal workforce in the first month of President Donald Trump’s attempt to get spending under control.

Sherman Frederick

The park is a treasure. I remember when I first saw it. It wasn’t a national park then. The beauty of the area is stunning enough, but, of course, the caves were absolutely jaw-dropping.

Thankfully, the Great Basin National Park Foundation has stepped up to hire all five of the employees to keep the park running as normal.

I get what President Trump is trying to do. The federal workforce has become a monster in itself. Employees no longer work from the office, but remotely. When DOGE sent letters to all employees to show proof of life, most didn’t respond.

It’s a mess, and for the good of taxpayers, it needs to be brought to heel.

The Park Service, however, will not be a big area of concern. The Park Service is not overstaffed. There are fewer staff, in fact, than a couple of years ago.

Also, the staff work in the parks to which they are assigned. There may be room for DOGE to look at the concessionaire contracts. My guess is there are a lot of those deals that need review.

This will all even out because no one wants to hurt the National Parks. So kudos to the Foundation for stepping up temporarily.

THREE QUESTIONS

Attention Nevada Congresscritters of the Democratic flavor: I have three questions for you.

  1. Should transgender “women” be banned from competing in girl’s sports in Nevada high schools and colleges?
  2. Should federal workers be required to return to the office for in-person work?
  3. Should the government conduct business based on merit and merit only?

My educated guess is not one of our elected officials with a “D” behind their title would answer “yes” to these three questions, even though 80% of Nevadans would.

This illustrates how Democrats have “jumped the shark” as a national party. While individuals such as Katherine Cortez Mastos and Jackie Rosen, our two U.S. Senators, seem like fairly normal Nevadans, they don’t speak their minds because they are fully captive and obedient to a whacky ideology embraced by the Democratic Party.

Look, I believe that Cortez Mastos and Rosen were given a truth serum and asked if they thought it was ok for a fully equipped boy to shower with Gorman High School’s girl’s volleyball team, they’d say: “For gawd’s sake, No!”

But because they are Democrats, they don’t. They can’t.

They can prove me wrong by answering “yes” to these three simple questions. Please send it to shermfrederick@gmail.com. I’ll let you know if they respond.
